Travel + Leisure Awards 2024

We are delighted to announce that Journeys With Purpose has been recognised in the Travel + Leisure Global Vision Awards 2024. The awards recognise companies that lead the way in developing a more sustainable travel industry.

The publication hopes that the ‘winners will inspire the next generation of problem solvers looking to make a positive impact’. That is exactly what we intend to do. Our mission is to empower global change, by restoring our relationship with the natural world. Through real-world experiences we aim to convey, connect and mobilise the advancement of nature restoration and local community livelihoods on a global scale.

There’s no such thing as a typical trip for Journeys With Purpose, an “impact travel company” launched in 2019. Instead, each itinerary is designed to showcase the wonders of a specific ecosystem, such as the caves of Chiquibul National Park, in Belize, or Argentina’s Rincón del Socorro, a 75,000-acre reserve in the wildlife-filled Iberá Wetlands. What’s more, each departure is hosted by the conservationists who are helping to protect these priceless places.

OUR FOCUS - THE IBERÁ NATIONAL PARK:

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.

In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.

As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.

Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
