Where travel and conservation meet

As you embark on a Argentina adventure, you’ll have the chance to encounter a variety of native species, plants and animals that are naturally found only in this region. These species are key to the health of the local ecosystem, supporting biodiversity and helping maintain nature’s balance.

Many of them face threats from habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species, making conservation efforts more important than ever. By learning about and appreciating these native species, you’re also helping to protect them for future generations.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Journey to argentina

Do I need to speak Spanish to travel in Argentina?

Spanish is the national language, and while English is spoken in some hotels and urban areas, it’s not universal.

You don’t need to be fluent, but having a good grasp of a few basic phrases will go a long way and is always appreciated.

Is Argentina suitable for responsible and conservation-led travel?

Yes—and increasingly so. Argentina has a growing network of private reserves, rewilding projects, and conservation-led lodges. Conservation has become a common focus for many luxury trips to Argentina.

When done properly, travel here directly supports habitat protection, local employment, and long-term ecological restoration in the likes of Patagonia and the Iberá Wetlands.

What wildlife might I see on a luxury trip to Argentina?

Much like the landscapes that make up this South American nation, wildlife here is as varied as it is fascinating.

Animals include the likes of guanacos, pumas, Andean condors, whales, penguins, caimans, capybaras, and hundreds of bird species. Sightings are never staged or guaranteed—this is real nature, not a zoo—but that’s what makes it meaningful.

How safe is Argentina for travellers?

Argentina is generally safe for visitors, particularly in rural and wilderness areas. As with anywhere, situational awareness matters in cities such as Buenos Aires.

On a luxury Argentina holiday with Journeys With Purpose we handle logistics carefully and work only with trusted local partners to minimise risk and friction.

What should I pack for an Argentine adventure?

Layers are essential. Weather can change quickly, especially in the wilderness of Patagonia. High-quality outdoor clothing, good footwear, and sun protection matter more than fashion.

Our travel experts can provide a detailed packing list so you don’t overpack—or arrive unprepared.

What is Argentine culture like?

Argentine culture blends European influence with strong regional identities.

It’s expressive, proud, and deeply social—expect late dinners, long conversations, a love of football, music, tango dancing, and literature, and a slower, more human rhythm of life outside major cities.

OUR FOCUS - THE IBERÁ NATIONAL PARK:

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.

In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.

As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.

Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
