Indonesia
Adventures

Explore a tapestry of islands rich in biodiversity and culture on one of our Indonesia adventures, spanning the jungles of Kalimantan, the reefs of Raja Ampat, and the spiritual heart of Bali.

Encounter endangered orangutans, dive in pristine marine ecosystems, and support conservation efforts that safeguard this vibrant archipelago.

VISIT Indonesia

Nature thrives across the 17,000 islands of Indonesia, but it also faces growing threats. Protecting this archipelago’s biodiversity will ensure that orangutans continue swinging through Sumatra’s rainforests, Komodo dragons remain on patrol on remote islands and marine life keeps teeming the Coral Triangle.

Deforestation, driven by palm oil expansion, is erasing critical habitats. Indigenous communities, deeply connected to the land, are often excluded from conservation decisions. Yet, Indonesia is pushing back by increasingly involving Indigenous communities in decision-making processes and implementing initiatives like carbon trading and mangrove restoration to protect vital ecosystems.

With 54 national parks to explore, covering both terrestrial and marine areas, sustainable tourism is also taking root. Visitors can explore rainforests, dive into vibrant coral reefs and engage with Indigenous traditions, experiencing Indonesia in a way that supports its people and landscapes.

Where travel and conservation meet

As you travel through this unique landscape, you’ll have the chance to encounter a variety of native species, plants and animals that are naturally found only in this region. These species are key to the health of the local ecosystem, supporting biodiversity and helping maintain nature’s balance.

Many of them face threats from habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species, making conservation efforts more important than ever. By learning about and appreciating these native species, you’re also helping to protect them for future generations.

OUR FOCUS - THE IBERÁ NATIONAL PARK:

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.

In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.

As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.

Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
