Located in southwestern Africa, Namibia is most commonly known for its vast deserts, dramatic mountainscapes and breathtaking lunar-like scenery. From the Namib Desert, one of the oldest on Earth, to Sossusvlei’s iconic red dunes, Etosha National Park’s teeming biodiversity and the Skeleton Coast’s stretching sand dunes, there is no shortage of unique ecosystems to explore. As well as generally being considered one of Africa’s safest countries to visit, Namibia is also celebrated for its forward-thinking conservation efforts. With nearly half of its land protected and communities actively engaged through successful community conservancies, distinctive scenery combines with growing environmental stewardship to make for an increasingly exciting destination to visit.
We don’t currently run a Hosted Journey to Namibia, but regularly create tailor-made itineraries for our bespoke travellers. Sign up to our Field Report to hear what we’re saying about favourite properties, hand-picked experiences and the destinations you’ll never forget.
Watch a sunrise turn the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei a burnished gold before exploring the surreal landscapes of Dead Vlei. Feel your heart rate soar as you sandboard and quad bike through Swakopmund. Explore ancient shipwrecks along the mysterious Skeleton Coast and face the cacophonous clamour of a Cape Cross seal colony. Seek big game by Etosha’s watering holes and marvel at one of the naturally darkest (and accessible) night skies with unforgettable stargazing in NamibRand Nature Reserve. Get in touch to design a special journey through this unique and memorable landscape.
Our Impact Pledge is our commitment to support the advancement of pioneering conservation projects through direct donations with every journey. In 2023, and our second calendar year, we raised and directed over $50,000 to grassroot conversation projects. We do this by created hosted and private conservation travel experiences in the Democratic Republic of Congo and around the world.
This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.
In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.
As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.
Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
