VISIT Botswana

Renowned for the world’s largest inland delta and UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Okavango Delta, where unique ecosystems support diverse wildlife and premier safaris, Botswana’s fascinating landscapes stretch over a variety of ecosystems.

From the otherworldly salt pans of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and the vast semi-arid wilderness of Central Kalahari Game Reserve to Chobe National Park’s immense elephant herds and Nxai Pan National Park’s ancient baobabs and open grasslands, Botswana is a land where adventure enthusiasts can enjoy varied land and water-based activities, and where community-based natural resource management supports both conservation and the livelihoods of local communities.

Where travel and conservation meet

As you travel through this unique landscape, you’ll have the chance to encounter a variety of native species, plants and animals that are naturally found only in this region. These species are key to the health of the local ecosystem, supporting biodiversity and helping maintain nature’s balance.

Many of them face threats from habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species, making conservation efforts more important than ever. By learning about and appreciating these native species, you’re also helping to protect them for future generations.

OUR FOCUS - THE IBERÁ NATIONAL PARK:

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.

In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.

As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.

Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
