Heather Combs

PRESIDENT, NORTH AMERICA

Heather Combs believes travel has the power to transform not only how we see the world, but how we see ourselves.

A lifelong explorer, she has travelled to more than forty countries across six continents, drawn by a deep curiosity for the people, cultures, wildlife and landscapes that make our planet extraordinary. Whether diving beneath the ocean’s surface, walking remote coastlines, or spending time under vast night skies, she finds perspective in the natural world and a reminder of our place within it.

Among her most meaningful travel experiences was trekking to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, an encounter that reinforced both the fragility of our natural world and the responsibility we share to protect it. She is particularly inspired by places that challenge perspective, from the dramatic landscapes of Iceland to the wildernesses and conservation projects working to preserve the world’s most important ecosystems.

Heather believes international travel is one of life’s greatest teachers. By taking us beyond our comfort zones, travel expands our understanding, deepens our empathy, and fosters a greater connection to both people and place. As a mother raising five daughters, including one who studied environmental science, she is passionate about preserving these opportunities for future generations and helping others experience the same sense of wonder and discovery that has shaped her own life.

After more than twenty-five years building and leading businesses as a CEO and executive, Heather now focuses on creating a portfolio of work that combines purpose, partnership and impact. She is particularly drawn to ventures that demonstrate a “double bottom line”—delivering commercial success while creating meaningful positive outcomes for communities and the natural world.

As President, North America for Journeys With Purpose, Heather works to build partnerships with organizations, brands and communities that share a commitment to conservation, education and responsible travel. She is passionate about connecting travellers with immersive experiences that inspire curiosity, create lasting memories, and contribute to measurable conservation outcomes.

For Heather, the most meaningful journeys leave both the traveller and the destination better than they were before.

HIGHLIGHTED TRAVEL MOMENTS

Costa Rica

Costa Rica reminded me that adventure and conservation can coexist beautifully. From hiking volcanic landscapes and zip-lining above rainforest canopies to swimming beneath waterfalls and wandering through cloud forests, every experience reinforced the extraordinary biodiversity that thrives when nature is protected. Among my favorite moments were the quiet ones spent searching for sloths hidden high in the trees; a reminder that slowing down often reveals the greatest wonders. It was such a reminder that slowing down often reveals the greatest wonders.

Uganda

Standing just a few feet from a family of mountain gorillas in the forests of Uganda was one of the most profound wildlife encounters of my life. The experience was humbling, emotional, and a powerful reminder of both our connection to the natural world and our responsibility to protect it. It deepened my appreciation for conservation efforts that safeguard not only endangered species, but entire ecosystems and the communities that depend upon them.

Kenya

Sharing Kenya with my daughter Kayla was a reminder that travel is at its most meaningful when it becomes a shared experience across generations. Together we witnessed extraordinary wildlife, vast landscapes, and the delicate balance between conservation and community that makes Kenya such an inspiring destination. Watching the wonder unfold through her eyes reinforced my belief that travel can shape perspectives, inspire stewardship, and create memories that endure for a lifetime.

Iceland

Few places have challenged my sense of scale and perspective like Iceland. Its volcanic landscapes, black lava fields, geothermal waters, and endless horizons feel almost otherworldly. It is a place where the forces that shape our planet are visible at every turn. From soaking in the warmth of geothermal lagoons to standing beneath the Northern Lights, Iceland offered a profound reminder of nature’s power, beauty, and ability to inspire awe.

OUR FOCUS - THE IBERÁ NATIONAL PARK:

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.

In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.

As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.

Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
