From hiking ancient pilgrimage trails across the Kii Peninsula in Japan to sailing through the remote San Blas Islands of Panama, her love of adventure in wild places has taken her to far flung corners of the world.
Embarking on a Geography degree, Eliza was able to continue learning about different places and spaces while focusing on the interaction between humans and the environment. Inspired by fieldwork in Israel and Syria, she began her career in security intelligence, specialising in climatic and travel risks globally.
Seeking a new challenge that would marry her interests in exploration and the environment, Eliza joined Journeys With Purpose in 2023. As Head of Operations she works behind the scenes to aid the day-to-day functioning of the company while helping to execute guests’ transformative journeys in wild nature.
The immense, rugged landscapes of northern Albania are spectacular. My journey there was a memorable experience, hiking along turquoise rivers under snow-capped peaks between quaint mountain settlements.
The warm hospitality of the local people really stuck with me. Everyone has a different story to tell about their experiences living through the communist dictatorship that kept the country sealed off to the world until the 1990s.
A relatively undiscovered gem, Albania’s rich history, untamed landscapes and fascinating culture are not to be missed.
Japan is utterly captivating. My first moments in Tokyo were surreal, immersed in neon lights and a symphony of new sights, sounds and flavours.
In subsequent visits I’ve ventured further into Japan’s serene natural landscapes. One of my favourite experiences was hiking along the Kumano Kodo, an ancient pilgrimage route on the Kii Peninsula.
In the picture I’m at the end of my trail, en route to Tsuboyu, the only UNESCO World Heritage-listed hot spring in the world. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!

Our first time on a trip arranged by JWP. Everyone involved was top notch and every aspect of the trip was thoughtfully planned and well executed. Hotel choices, guides and timing were excellent.

Journeys With Purpose is leading the way in redefining tourism. My trip was shortly after the pandemic, and just as New Zealand was opening its borders and I could travel again

This extraordinary wetland, the largest in Argentina, is home to 30% of the biodiversity in the country including endangered species such as the pampas and marsh deer, the maned wolf and grassland birds like the strange-tailed tyrant.
In 2005, what was to become one of the largest rewilding programs in the Americas was started, with the goal of restoring keystone species that had been extirpated from Iberá through hunting and habitat loss and were extinct in the region, the Province or, in some cases, the country.
As the rewilding program developed, the cultural identity of Iberá began to recover alongside the ecosystems and natural processes, impacting a total population of 100,000 people who surround the park.
Today, Iberá stands as one of the world’s most successful ongoing conservation missions.
